                  Criteria for Awards

Engineer of the Year

1.   Must be a PE or Fellow member of the Society, with at least ten years as a member.

2.    Must have a record of extensive participation in the professional engineering and engineering associations as a working member of FES.

3.    Shall have been active in carrying out his/her civic, community and public responsibilities.

4.    Professional integrity shall be beyond question.

5.    Professional reputation shall be more than local in character.

6.    Shall have consistently worked for the professional and technical interest of the engineering profession.

7.    Must have achieved particular distinction in his/her own technical field and mode of practice which may be in any of the practice sections.

Young Engineer of the Year

1.    Professional integrity shall be beyond question.

2.    Professional reputation shall be more than local in character.

3.    Shall have consistently worked for the professional and technical interest of the engineering profession.

4.    Shall have been active in carrying out his/her civic, community and public responsibilities.

5.    A person who is a PE or engineer intern, is a member in good standing of FES, and who is 35 or under on January 1 of the year the award is presented.

Outstanding Service to The Profession

1.    Must be a resident of Florida and may or may not be an engineer.

2.    Shall have contributed outstanding service to the engineering profession.

3.    Shall not be a state officer or state director of the state society.

4.    Professional reputation shall be more than local in character.

5.    Professional integrity shall be beyond question.

6.    Shall have consistently worked for the professional and technical interest of the engineering profession.

7.    Shall have been active in carrying out his/her civic, community and public responsibilities.

 

                  Outstanding Technical Achievement

1.    Shall bean individual who has achieved particular distinction in his/her own technical field and mode of practice ,in any of the practice sections.

2.    Technical achievement shall be one which enhances the engineering profession.

3.    Technical achievement shall be one which makes contributions to the good of the public.

4.    Technical achievement can be a singular achievement or a series of achievement which are recognized within the profession as being unique, innovative and outstanding.

5.    Shall be a Florida resident.

6.    Record must show active participation in professional and technical society activities.

7.    Professional integrity shall be beyond question.

8.    Professional reputation shall be more than local in character.

9.    Record must show a progression of professional development through continuing education.

Fellow

1.   Shall be a professional engineer of recognized high character who has distinguished                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              .     engineering and/or scientific attainments and who shall be elected Fellow only by the                                                                    .     unanimous vote of the Board.

2      Candidate shall:

  1. Have been practicing the profession of engineering for 20 years.
  2. Have been a member of FES 10 years, or a member of NSPE for 15 years with

at least five years of service in FES.

  1. Be a Professional Engineer member of FES.
  2. Have a conspicuous record of achievement in professional affairs, including substantial interest and active work in FES at the state, chapter, or national level.

3.    Professional integrity shall be beyond question.

4.    Professional reputation shall be more than local in character.

5.    Shall have consistently worked for the professional and technical interest of the engineering profession.

6.    Shall have been active in carrying out his/her civic, community, and public responsibilities.

 

Industry Engineer of the Year

1.  Registered engineer employed or have been employed for 15 yrs. by industry in the state of Florida.

 

    Government Engineer of the Year

1.    Registered professional engineer employed by federal, state or local government.
