The Broward County
Chapter of the Florida Engineering Society is a non-profit organization
operating under the Charter of the state society, which is affiliated with the
National Society of Professional Engineers.
The Chapter embraces
all of Broward County. The Headquarters are located in the office of
the current Chapter Secretary.
The Chapter obtained
its Charter from the Florida Engineering Society in May, 1957. The Chapter
is comprised of members in good standing in Florida Engineering Society
under the following grades of membership:
LIFE MEMBER
shall be a
least 65 years of age, retired from professional practice, a member in
good. standing in accordance with the escalated scale of continuous
membership as prescribed in the Florida Engineering Society Chapter, and
shall be in compliance with the application requirements.
FELLOW MEMBER
Shall be of
recognized high character and achievements, and shall be elected FELLOW
unanimously by the Board of Directors.
PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER MEMBER
shall be the
holder of a valid Professional Engineer license or certificate, registered
under the laws of any state, district or territory of the U.S. or Canada.
ENGINEER INTERN MEMBER
Shall be an
Engineer Intern, or equivalent, holding a valid certificate issued under
the laws of any state, district or territory of the U.S. or Canada.
ASSOCIATE MEMBER
Shall be a
graduate engineer qualified to be admitted to examination as an Engineer Intern
as defined in Chapter 471.21 of the Florida Statutes.
LAND SURVEYOR MEMBER
Shall be a
person holding a valid license or registration as a Land Surveyor issued
under the laws of any state, district or territory of the U.S. or Canada.
The Broward Chapter of
the Florida Engineering Society was created to dedicate itself to the
promotion and protection of professional engineering as a social and
economic influence vital to the affairs of men and women in the community.
At the time of
publication of this directory, the Broward County Chapter has more than 250
members in good standing. The membership is further comprised of practice
sections, composed of groups in similar employment fields sharing common
professional concerns. They are as follows:
